Power is provided by a mid-mounted 2,936cc quad-cam V8 equipped with twin water-cooled turbochargers, dual intercoolers, dry-sump lubrication, twin oil coolers, and Weber-Marelli electronic injection and ignition. Additional features include composite body panels finished in Rosso Corsa, an all-synchromesh five-speed manual transaxle, unassisted hydraulic disc brakes with 13” cross-drilled and ventilated rotors, staggered-width 17” center-lock Speedline wheels, composite seats upholstered in red cloth, Sabelt four-point harnesses, and air conditioning.
Each F40 was finished in Rosso Corsa over 11 body panels that were molded from composite materials including Kevlar, carbon, and aluminum and bonded to a steel tube-frame chassis. Pininfarina-styled design elements include eight NACA ducts, a polycarbonate engine cover with cooling louvers, a front chin spoiler, a rear wing, a rear diffuser, a polycarbonate windshield, and popup headlights situated behind faired-in driving lights and turn signals.
Multipiece 17” Speedline alloy wheels are secured by octagonal nuts locked in place by R-clips and were mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 235/45 up front and 335/35 at the rear
